In 2006, Disney bought Pixar for $7.6 billion in stock, making Steve Jobs the #1 owner of Disney stock, at 7.1%.
Did you know that Disney also bought the Muppets? That's why you see the rides in Disney parks. I wonder why they don't have Muppets costumed characters wandering around Disneyland and Disneyworld. They are making another Muppets movie now (they are releasing YouTube shorts in anticipation).
So because Disney owns Pixar and Muppets, Pixar nodded to this. In the new short, Presto, that plays before Wall-E, you can see Statler and Waldorf in the balcony (they’re the Muppet old men who heckle).
